For a Rally in Response to
Governor's Veto of AB 43
(Gender Neutral Marriage Bill)
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has just vetoed AB 43 (The Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act), which would have ended the unfair exclusion, of loving and committed gay and lesbian couples, from civil marriage. Marriage Equality USA, Allied LGBT Organizations, and Gay-Friendly Churches will hold a series of statewide rallies to express our disappointment in his decision and to recognize those Legislators who had the courage to do the right thing and support AB 43. Please join us on Monday, October 15th in downtown Modesto starting at 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of 10th and J Street and pass this information on to any others who might want to attend.
When: Monday, October 15, 2007, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

WE COULD HAVE BEEN MARRIED ON MONDAY! Keep in mind that we could have been married on Monday, but instead, on Monday, we will be standing out in the cold holding signs. How long do we have to stand in the cold?
HOW LONG MUST WE WAIT FOR OUR FREEDOM? The Governor has tried to bury news about this veto by waiting until 5:30 p.m. on a Friday, in the hopes that most media wouldn't pick it up as a story, or that Californian's wouldn't notice. But the Governor has thwarted the will of the people as voiced through our duly elected representatives to the State Legislature. We won't be silenced! Our voices will be heard!
THIS IS A CALL TO RALLY! We need our community to see just how many people support the freedom to marry. We need our community to realize the harm that we suffer as a society by unfairly excluding one group of people from civil marriage. LOVE IS LOVE!
